1975 - Lest We Forget
by GetBusyLiving ini find the topic of the 1975 end of the world scenario facinating, especially since i never lived through it.
do you old schoolers ever feel concerned that people will one day forget about what really went down?
with whitewashed tripe like the 'proclaimers' book informing dubs that it was just the false expectations of over enthusiastic apostates, are you at all concerned that the legacy of bullshit that is 1975 will be a forgotten moment in history blamed on you instead where the blame really belongs?

It is true that many Witnesses thought Armageddon would come in 1975. It is true that the Watchtower Society gave the Witnesses the idea.
I was baptized November 25, 1973 and NEVER thought Armageddon would come in 1975. I was not the only one who thought this. It is false to say that every Witness was looking to 1975. Many were but not me.

Scrubs is very cool.
Dr. Elliott is played by Sarah Chalke. Like all the best American TV actors she is Canadian. She is hot and has a great sense of comedy but can play dramatic roles as well.
She starred in a horror movie (can't remember the title) about a teenage witch getting revenge on the teenage descendants of the people that burned her at the stake. Not a kid movie and very spooky.

Is "Scrubs" original to the UK or a variation of the US "Scrubs?"
We have an American version of "The Office" Not nearly as good as the UK original. An American version of "Coupling" bombed.

Would you have quit the JW's for a Worldly Person you loved?
by JH inwhen you were a devout jw, and if you would have met a man/women that really pleased you, would you have quit the jw organization for that person, if he/she asked you to?

In 1984 I fell in love with a non Witness and disassociated myself before going beyond kissing her. At the time I was convinced that Jehovah would kill me at Armageddon. I told myself this must be how Adam felt when he ate the fruit.
I told Debbie I used to be a Witness but did not tell her I had sentenced myself to death in order to be with her. She would say that something was not quite right about me but could not understand what. I could never tell her I was waiting for God's wrath.
She dumped me after a while and I decided to get re-instated. A few months after that she asked to get back together with me and with great difficulty I said no.
It would be five more years before I broke free of the Watchtower.

According to MSNBC reports Brittany has been pregnant for two or three months. That was while the Pope was still alive, I'll bet it's Jerry Orbach from Law and Order gestating in Brittany's womb.

Mickey Spillane, the creator of hardboiled private investigator Mike Hammer, author of "I, the Jury", "Kiss Me Deadly" and other great detective stories. Spillane's wife would appear in various stages of undress on the covers of his novels. Paperback, of course.

New Light on Higher Education
by seeitallclearlynow inmy son made a point to tell me that they had what was to him a very interesting, different talk on the service meeting this week.
the presiding overseer gave a talk on the society's changed view of getting a college education.. he used the scripture which admonishes the reader to "acquire a heart of wisdom" and applied it to getting a 4 year college education for the sake of being able to support oneself at double the rate of pay with one's degree upon graduation.
this of course is only for the purpose of being able to then pioneer, only having to work a few days a week, thereby having the time for the field ministry.. such an annoying change - finally!

I thought this changed in 1994 or 1995. I remember reading in a Watchtower article at that time stating that no one should be looked down upon for going to college.
I remember thinking, "You bastards, why didn't you print that in 1976 when I got out of High School!"
